Excel tools for diploid or haploid microsatellite data
The Excel Microsatellite Toolkit is an add-in utility for Microsoft® Excel (Windows versions, Excel 97 or later)
that contains tools for population geneticists working with microsatellites.
Toolkit functions
Data Checking
Detection of invalid alleles, incompletely-typed samples (diploid data) and
invalid sample / population names.
Data Formatting:
Formatting of data for commonly-used population genetics software - Formats available:
Formatted data can be saved directly from Excel, ready for reading by the relevant program.
Calculations
Calculation of allele frequencies, detection of matching samples.
Statistics calculated:
observed and expected heterozygosity
for all loci
locus by locus
polymorphism information content (PIC)
for all loci
locus by locus
mean number of alleles per locus.
Sample matching
Identification of identical or near-identical genotypes.
Installation
The downloadable zip file 'MStools.zip' contains 4 files:
