The Kerry Cattle Genome Diversity Project will use the Illumina® Bovine SNP50 DNA Analysis BeadChip to assess genomic diversity in Kerry cattle and perform comparisons with other cattle breeds and populations. The BeadChip contains 54,609 informative single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) uniformly distributed across the entire genomes of major cattle breed types. All SNP probes on have been validated in 19 common beef and dairy breeds.

The video below was made by AgResearch New Zealand and describes a similar DNA Analysis BeadChip developed for the sheep genome.
